The project explores how traditional knowledge can evolve into a contemporary design language while remaining rooted in its cultural and material origins.

Process began with documenting local weaving practices, interviewing craftspeople, and studying the social, historical, and material significance of wicker within Polish everyday life. The research informed not only the formal language of the objects but also the production system behind them, proposing a decentralized model that supports local craft communities and preserves intergenerational knowledge.

Each object responds to the inherent constraints of willow as a living material: its flexibility, growth patterns, structural limitations, and seasonal preparation. Instead of overcoming these constraints, the collection embraces them as generators of form. Historical wicker typologies, including fishing baskets and workshop furniture that have gradually disappeared from everyday use, are translated into contemporary lighting objects through structural references. The project avoids folkloric quotation, instead drawing from gestures of making, material economy, and the logic of traditional construction.

Light becomes an equally important material within the collection. Passing through the woven willow structure, it reveals the density, rhythm, and texture of the weave, transforming a utilitarian craft technique into an atmospheric experience. The woven surface becomes both structure and filter, making visible the labor, knowledge, and material intelligence embedded within each object. In this way, the collection positions wicker not as a relic of the past but as a contemporary material capable of carrying both cultural memory and new possibilities for design.
